The Analyst is a core member of the banking team covering a well defined group of Financial Sponsors clients (private equity funds, infrastructure and energy funds) that are strategically important to us for all businesses and product areas of its Wholesale Banking & Asset Management Division.
Products and services included in this coverage encompass investment banking products (M&A advisory, debt capital markets and equity capital markets), lending (acquisition finance, project finance, and other types of lending) and global market products (FX, equities, fixed income and derivatives).
Main Responsibilities
Under the direction of a senior banker, the Analyst will be asked to perform a wide range of analytical, research, writing, and administrative tasks to support the marketing and operational activities of the Financial Sponsors team, including:
- Client Presentations and Proposals: prepare Powerpoint presentations for internal or external usage; interfacing with other departments, including the legal/compliance departments and the Series 24 Supervisory Principal to attach the right form of disclaimers to these presentations and obtain approval to circulate or show these presentations to relevant parties;
- Market Monitoring: monitor private equity, infrastructure, and energy markets through different information sources to keep track of interesting deals and opportunities, actors and trends in the marketplace;
- Internal Reports: prepare, verify, and maintain other internal reports such as business targeting and pipelines, call reports, relationship reports, commercial programs, market analyses;
- Research: do research on the internet and other databases; compile economic or financial data and information from various information sources on companies, deals, countries, sectors of the economy, or other topics;
- Financial Models: construct Excel spreadsheets to model expected cash flows and other financial parameters of a deal or business proposal;
- Business Plans: under the guidance of a banker, prepare business plans and financial models client by client and for a group of clients;
- Internal Databases: Build and maintain internal databases with information on clients and the marketplace;
- Deal Approval Documents: put together documents describing a particular deal to facilitate the internal requests for approval;
- Library: maintain a library of internal and external presentations generated by competitors, clients, and internal groups;
- Information Gathering: work with client resources, as required, to obtain, collect, and compile information pertaining to a specific deal or business opportunity;
- Filing: keep and maintain a well organized filing system for the group including files with executed documents, internal reports and documents, client presentations, and general market data;
- Account Opening: when necessary, under the guidance of a banker, organize, execute, and file all documents required for opening a client account.
Client Contact
Typically the Analyst will have limited client contact but this may be necessary from time to time on specific projects.
Internal Procedures
The Analyst will be responsible for following internal rules and procedures pertaining to different types of transactions; in particular, the Analyst will implement the requirements dictated by the Series 24 Supervisory Principal of the team, in particular as it pertains to approval and storage of client communication material.
Backup
The Analyst is required to be in the office and act as backup to other Analysts and Associates in the same client coverage team when the other members of the team are out of the office.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree from a well known college or university (business, economics, finance, mathematics, science, or engineering preferred);
- Experience in investment banking is a plus;
- Proficiency in the usage of software tools such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint;
- Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills, knowledge of MatLab, strongly preferred;
- Fluency in English required;
- Spanish language strongly recommended.
Licenses
Series 7 and 63 required.
